During the service we read out the names of those who have died in the parish over the past year, thanking God for their lives and lighting a candle after each group of names. Towards the end of the service we carried the candles up to the altar to join the Easter candle, symbolising the light of Christ, and the altar candles symbolising the hosts of heaven.
